Four people have been remanded in custory charged in connection with the seizure of heroin valued at around €200,000 in Dublin at the weekend.

Gardaí from the National Drugs Unit, assisted by Limerick gardaí, seized a kilogram of heroin on the Naas Road on Saturday evening.

Three men and one woman, all aged between 28 and 42, were arrested at the scene.

The four, with addresses in Dublin, Tipperary and Clare, appeared at Kilmainham Dublin District Court this morning.

Martin Mulcahy, The Courtyard, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, his sister Catherine Mulcahy, Killaloe, Co Clare, Bernard Nugent, Castletymon, Tallaght, Dublin and Neil O’Hare, of Clonlara, Co Clare were all  charged with possession and intent to supply.

Detectives from the Garda National Drugs Unit told the court the four were charged yesterday at Tallaght and Clondalkin Garda Stations.

The court heard Mr Nugent told investigating officers he had nothing to say when charged while Catherine Mulcahy made no reply to one charge and said "I'm sorry" to another.

Both Martin Mulcahy and Mr O'Hare made no reply when they were charged.

Judge Ann Ryan remanded all four in custody to appear again before Cloverhill Court this Thursday.
