FOUR MEN charged with assaulting a number of people in Tipperary Town on St Patrick’s Day have been further charged with violent disorder.

The four, who already face charges of assault and public order offences in relation to alleged disturbances on March 17th, appeared before Tipperary District Court yesterday.

The more serious charge of violent disorder – an offence carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years – was brought against the men yesterday.

Ned Delaney (21) and Dan Delaney (18), both of Carrowclough, Tipperary, were remanded in custody to appear again in court next Wednesday.

Patrick O’Keeffe (19), St Ailbe’s Drive, Tipperary, and John Paul Delaney (18), Abbey Street, Cahir, were granted bail.

Supt John Courtney applied to the court for all four men to be remanded in custody, given the seriousness of the charges.

Garda John O’Connor told the court that Dan Delaney was in breach of his High Court bail conditions last weekend and he was refused bail yesterday by Judge Mary Martin.
