FOUR workmen were injured when scaffolding collapsed during renovations at the Irish Dairy Board's head office in Dublin yesterday. Parked cars were crushed under the falling debris but no passer-by was hurt.
Three of the workmen were detained in the Meath Hospital overnight, where their condition was described as stable. The fourth man was expected to be discharged after treatment. An investigation by the Health and Safety Authority into the cause of the accident is continuing.
All of those injured were on the three-storey structure when it collapsed. It is believed that three of them were employees of the firm contracted to provide scaffolding for the company carrying out the renovations to the brickwork at Grattan House, on the corner of Upper Mount Street and Grattan Street.
