Gardaí were last night continuing to question four men arrested following the discovery of a highly elaborate cannabis grow-house in Co Cork with over 2,000 plants worth an estimated €500,000.

The four Asian men in their 20s and 30s were arrested under drugs trafficking legislation by gardaí when they raided an industrial premises at Springfield Industrial Estate in Youghal, east Cork, at around 11pm on Monday.

Gardaí found a major cannabis production facility with heaters and hydroponic feeding systems, as well as drying equipment. They believe the facility was not long in operation as the plants were still very small.

Two of the men were taken to Midleton Garda station for questioning, and the other two were brought to Cobh Garda station.
