Four gardaí were injured when two patrol vehicles collided as they answered a call-out in Cork city this morning.
The crash involved a van and a vehicle belonging to the Emergency Response Unit and happened on the Boreenmanna Road, close to the junction with the South City Link dual-carriageway at 1.30am.
Four officers, aged in their 20s and 30s, were taken to Cork University Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Three were discharged after a routine examination while a fourth was observed for a period before being released.
A Garda spokesman said the injured were minor and that the Garda Ombudsman had been notified.
A technical examination of the scene has been carried out.
