Scotland's Alastair Forsyth failed in his bid to win back his place on golf's European tour today.
The tour's tournament committee has supported the executive's decision to include the cancelled American Express World Championship in September as a counting event towards a member's minimum commitment of 11 tournaments on the Order of Merit.
Consequently, Sergio Garcia remains on the money list and Forsyth's finishing position remains at 116th, one too many for Category Seven membership.
However, the committee was sympathetic to Forsyth's situation and the 25-year-old has been guaranteed sufficient invitations - in addition to the tournaments his existing ranking enables him to play - to ensure a slightly higher than average number of starts next season.
Forsyth's appeal arose from the fact that Garcia actually played in only 10 counting events, his scheduled 11th being the world championship which was called off in the week of the September 11th terrorist attacks in the United States.
The Scot returned to the tour qualifying school last month, but missed out there by one shot.
