A FOUNDING member of the Civil Rights Association is urging nationalists to boycott the May 30th election which he says is undemocratic and could herald a return to Stormont.

Mr Fionnbarra O Dochartaigh, a historian in Derry, says the election "flies in the face of the principles for which the CRA stood. Only parties included in a list drawn up by the British government are allowed to contest the elections. Mr O Dochartaigh said it was not a free poll but one based on ~"British interference, selection, exclusion and ballot rigging".

Republican Sinn Fein and the Irish Republican Socialist Party, the INLA's political wing, are also calling for a boycott.
