BeijinG - A former Chinese president, Mr Yang Shangkun, has died of a long illness in Beijing at the age of 92.
Mr Yang was president during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre when troops killed hundreds of unarmed pro-democracy protesters.
Mr Yang was one of the "eight immortals" of the Chinese revolution. His death leaves only one of the eight - considered to be the founders of the People's Republic of China - still living.
