London - The former Catholic bishop of Argyll and the Isles, Dr Roddy Wright (58), has secretly wed the woman he ran away with. Dr Wright and Ms Kathleen MacPhee (43), a mother of three, were married in a civil ceremony on the Caribbean island of Antigua last June, he told the Mail on Sunday.
Dr Wright resigned as bishop in 1996 after disclosures about his relationship. It later emerged that he had fathered a son by another woman in 1981. But in his first interview since the wedding, Dr Wright said he still backed the Catholic Church's teachings on celibacy.
He said he and his wife regularly attend Mass but do not take communion.
