THREE men and two women were being questioned last night by gardaí in Limerick who are investigating the murder of Lee Slattery last month.
The body of the 24-year-old from Ballynanty on the city’s north side was discovered in a shallow grave at Knockalisheen Road near Moyross on May 31st.
The father-of-one had been reported missing by his family a few days before his body was found. He was last seen alive at around midnight on Thursday, May 27th, according to gardaí.
Post-mortem results showed he died after he was shot three times, including once in the head. Gardaí believe he was killed over a small drugs debt.
The five people were arrested as part of the investigation during early morning raids yesterday.
The three men and two women are aged between 19 and 27 and are being detained on suspicion of withholding information relating to the murder.
They are being questioned at Henry Street, Mayorstone and Roxboro garda stations and are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The five people can be detained without charge for up to three days.
