Security forces in the North have found five pipe bombs in a planned search of a house in Belfast.

Security forces in the North have found five pipe bombs in a planned search of a house in Belfast.

Three of the devices were primed and "ready for use", a police spokeswoman said. The items, discovered in a house on Florence Walk in the north of city, were made safe by British army technical officers. A number of houses were evacuated in the operation.

A quantity of ammunition was also found in the search, the spokeswoman added. All the items were taken away for technical examination.

No arrests have been made.
