Five members of the British Labour Party's Northern Ireland Committee yesterday met relatives of the 14 people fatally wounded by British army paratroopers on Bloody Sunday almost 26 years ago.
The meeting took place in Derry's Guildhall as speculation increased that the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, was close to announcing that a full inquiry, headed by a British judge, will be set up to investigate the killings.
After the meeting the five MPs visited the stretch of the city's walls overlooking the Bogside from where, it is claimed, that British soldiers , other than paratroopers , opened fire on Civil Rights marchers on January 30th, 1972.
