The defendants, all Irish men and women from Thurston Road, Lewisham, south London, were in a party of 12 arrested on January 31st last after Airtours Flight 1071 bound for Montego Bay in Jamaica was forced to divert to the US.

The group ended up stranded at Norfolk International Airport in Virginia for three days before being flown back to Britain where they were arrested.
