Five people in Limerick have been arrested by gardaí in connection with the investigation into the murder of a car dealer on New Year's Eve.
Sean Poland was shot dead during a suspected robbery at his home in Ardnacrusha, Co Clare, on the night.
His partner was tied up and attacked by the group of raiders while they stole €1,000. Mr Poland was fatally shot once in the head by the gang. He and his partner had just returned from a night out.
The five - three women and two men - were arrested by armed detectives following raids on a number of houses on the northside of Limerick City shortly before 8 a.m. this morning.
All the arrested are in their twenties apart from one woman who is in her teens.
This brings to eight the total number of people arrested as part of the Garda investigation into the murder.
The five are being held under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act and are being questioned at Mayorstone, Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda stations.
