A major pollution incident in Co Limerick has killed fish along a six-mile stretch of the Bunoke river, a tributary of the Deel.
The chief executive of the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board, Mr Eamon Cusack, said that the number of fish killed amounted to "thousands of juvenile trout and eels". The pollution has been traced to an agricultural source.
