KLAWD is as cool as alley cats come. A streetwise dude if ever there was one, he works for the Crocdillo mob as a courier. Trustworthiness is an essential character trait if you want work with the mob and Klawd has delivered everytime.
Not one to ask questions, Klawd just picked up his parcels and brought them to their destination. However, after a little mishap while jumping over a wire fence, the contents of one of the parcels spills out and to KIawd's surprise it's full of dollar bills.
80,000 of them, but they're all counterfeit. This is where his trouble begins. The temptation is too much for a cat with loads to do and see, and he takes a bundle of the notes thinking nobody will miss them. How wrong he is!
The Crocdillo mob immediately notices the cash is missing, and puts out a contract on the cat. Unaware that the mob is on his heels he begins to spend his ill-gotten, gains. First port of call on his spending spree is a gun shop where he buys one heck of a cat sling (a slingshot to you and I), but unfortunately for him the next customer in the shop is a cop called Firo.
A trigger-happy sort, Firo was in the process of getting himself a set of barrels to add to his collection when he finds that the cat has paid for the slingshot with dud money. He takes off after him and, brings him downtown. The captain orders him to find out where the Monopoly money came from and Firo has to take the cat along to help him.
In a game that can only be described as Doom meets Sam And Max, you can take control of either Firo or Klawd. But in the mode (if you have a piece can be controlled simultaneously by two players. With Firo you get a shoot-and-ask-no-questions sort of guy, while Klawd relies more on his speed and agility to get him out of trouble.
Although Firo & Klawd can be reasonably entertaining, it looks and feels like a good shareware package rather than a fully commercial product. There are no "save game options, and other nuisances give the game a little bit of an amateurish feel. Aside from that, the graphics are quite well done and the gameplay isn't bad at all. Perhaps, more than anything, one could suggest a drop in the retail price for this game.
