Clashes have broken out between anti-US fighters and Iraqi security forces in northern Baghdad.
A police source said said the fighting was in the mainly Sunni Muslim Adhamiya district but had no immediate word on casualties.
Insurgents also clashed with US troops in the Abu Ghraib area on Baghdad's western outskirts, residents said.
The fighting came as US and Iraqi troops battled rebels in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, on the fourth day of a major offensive to tame Iraq's most rebellious city before elections in January.
