At least 15 people were wounded today when suspected separatist guerrillas lobbed a grenade at a security patrol in India's Kashmir, police said.
Police said militants hurled a grenade at a security patrol vehicle in Sopore town north of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The disputed Himalayan region lies at the heart of a confrontation between India and Pakistan that has triggered fears of war in the region.
"The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road causing injuries to 14 civilians and a security force personnel," a police spokesman said.
