SUPPORT FOR Fine Gael has risen but satisfaction with party leader Enda Kenny has dropped, according to an opinion poll taken following the resignation of George Lee.
The poll also showed that support for Fianna Fáil rose, while support for Labour and the Green Party have dropped.
Over a 1,000 voters were surveyed nationwide on Wednesday and Thursday by Millward Brown/IMS on behalf of the Irish Independent.
Fine Gael support is up by four points to 34 per cent compared to the last Irish Independent poll almost a year ago.
Support for Fianna Fáil is up by two points since last year to 27 per cent. While support for the Green Party has dropped from three points to 2 per cent.
Labour’s support has dropped by three points to 19 per cent. However, party leader Eamon Gilmore received the highest satisfaction rating of the leaders, going up two points to 54 per cent.
Satisfaction for Taoiseach Brian Cowen is up one point since the last survey to 22 per cent. However, Mr Kenny’s satisfaction rating has dropped by three points to 26 per cent.
Green Party leader John Gormley’s satisfaction rating fell by three points to 25 per cent in a poll which was taken before the resignation of party Senator Déirdre de Búrca.
Satisfaction for Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams was unchanged at 37 per cent, while support for the party was up one point to 8 per cent. Support for independents and others was unchanged at 10 per cent
Satisfaction with the Government’s performance remained low at 13 per cent, with an 83 per cent dissatisfaction rating.
