FIANNA Fail will offer Telecom Eireann workers a 15 per cent shareholding in the company if it wins the election. The party will also offer similar shareholdings to employees in other semi state companies which make strategic alliances with the private sector.
The party spokesman on communications, Mr Seamus Brennan, confirmed last night that Fianna Fail would be advocating greater share ownership for workers as part of its election campaign.
Over the weekend it is understood that Mr Brennan and the party leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, met members of the Telecom Eireann unions, who have been lobbying TDs and political parties intensely since negotiations on a shareholding in the company broke down last week.
