Support for Fianna Fáil remains unchanged despite the defeat of the Lisbon Treaty referendum, a poll published today shows.
According to the Red C poll, published in the
Sunday Business Post, support for Fianna Fáil has remained static at 40 per cent since the previous survey last month.
Sinn Féin will have been hoping for a large rise in public support following its strong showing in the referendum campaign. However, this has failed to materialise, with support growing by just one point to 10 per cent.
The Green Party also made gains, its support base rising to seven per cent of those polled, an increase of two per cents.
Fine Gael appear to be the big losers out of the campaign, with their support falling by three percentage points to 25 per cent.
The Labour Party (10 per cent), the Progressive Democrats (2 per cent) and Independents (6 per cent) are all unchanged.
Despite Fianna Fáil's strong showing, only 47 per cent of those surveyed said they were satisfied with the Government. Some 53 per cent said they were dissatisfied.
This is almost identical to the Government's 46 per cent satisfaction rating reported in the
Irish Times/MRBI poll earlier this month.
