FIANNA Fail favours "serious consideration" of putting the city centre section of Dublin's' Luas light rail line underground, according to the party's transport spokesman, Mr Seamus Brennan.
Mr Brennan said in a statement that a report on the Luas line from the French consultants, Semaly, should be rejected by the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, Mr Lowry as "totally inadequate".
He accused Mr Lowry of "belatedly seeking to cobble together justifications for his existing decisions to build the light rail over ground in the city centre".
Mr Brennan accused the consultants of "scaremongering" when they pointed out the level of traffic disruption that would be caused by putting the line underground.
He said the report consultants were also those employed for the Luas project and therefore their report could not be considered independent.
