The lawyers acting on behalf of Fianna Fail, Frank Ward and Company, yesterday issued a statement on the Flood tribunal. An order for discovery was served on Fianna Fail and other political parties by the Flood tribunal directing it to furnish:

(a) All documents in its possession with regard to payments made to Fianna Fail by James Gogarty and Michael Bailey or any of their companies from June 1985.

(b) Any payments made by Ray Burke to Fianna Fail since January 1989.

The statement said Fianna Fail "complied fully, wholly and absolutely" with the terms of the order by furnishing the tribunal on April 1st with a "very detailed" affidavit of discovery and supporting documentation. The statement said that Fianna Fail had indicated to the tribunal that "it has and will continue to cooperate fully" with the tribunal.

The statement added that when the tribunal had considered the Fianna Fail affidavit and documentation, "should it seek clarification or confirmation of anything in the papers furnished, or seek assistance in relation to any other matter Fianna Fail is in a position to give assistance on, Fianna Fail as is its policy will help the tribunal in every way possible."
