Only First Division West Brom held their heads high as they pulled off the major shock when they beat Sunderland 2-1 coming back from a goal down.

Both Second Division Blackpool and First Division Barnsley poked their noses in front against Charlton Athletic and Blackburn Rovers before Charlton edged Blackpool 2-1 and Blackburn drew 1-1 with Barnsley.
