Ferdinand has been struggling with a knee injury sustained in training earlier this week.

The 22-year-old had received extensive treatment in a bid to make Wednesday's friendly on his home ground.

"Rio Ferdinand is going for a scan on his knee later today," said Leeds manager David O'Leary.

"We will know over the weekend how he is, but he will not be playing at Leicester and we will be withdrawing him from the England squad for next Wednesday's game".
