Kevin Fennelly's two year association with Dublin ended today after he stepped down as senior hurling manager.

Fennelly, who led Dublin in two championship campaigns, tendered his resignation to the county board this afternoon.

The Kilkenny man's resignation had been expected. It is believed Fennelly had been considering his options since Dublin's loss to Clare in the All-Ireland qualifying series.

The Dublin county board will start the search for a successor immediately and are to shortly advertise for a full-time director for developing hurling in the county.
