A FATHER and son appeared before the Dublin District Court yesterday following their arrest during an anti drugs march in the city centre on Tuesday night.

Breach of the peace charges against Mr James Mulhall (46) of Rutland Cottages, Summerhill, Dublin 1, were dismissed after the court heard the prosecuting garda was unable to attend the hearing.

Mr Dennis Mulhall (23) also of Rutland Cottages, Summerhill, was charged with breaching the peace at Courtney Place, on January 14th.

Judge John O'Neill remanded the defendant on bail to appear again before the court, on February 12th next. Mr Mulhall then left the court accompanied by a number of relatives and friends.

Both men had been arrested by gardai during a march by anti drugs activists in the Buckingham Street area of the inner city on Tuesday night.

They were both taken to Fitzgibbon Street Garda station where local people staged a protest against what they claimed was Garda harassment of antibug groups fighting heroin dealers.
