A Co Cavan man (54) has been found not guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court of raping and indecently assaulting his daughter (20). The jury on the third day of the trial acquitted him of the charges, after taking two hours to reach its decision.

The man had pleaded not guilty to seven charges of raping his daughter on dates from May 1991 to March 1997. He also denied four charges of indecently assaulting her and one charge of sexual assault on dates from February 1987 to May 1995.
