Reproductions of women's fashions from the 13th to the 20th century were yesterday handed over by the Mayor of Limerick, Mr Kieran O'Hanlon, to the Hunt Museum education department.
The costumes are part of the celebrations commemorating the Limerick Charter 800, arranged by the Corporation's Community Arts Project in association with FAS and the City Museum.
Mr John Hunt, board member of the museum, said the "ladies of fashion" costumes were technically superb and related closely to the many items among the 2,000 original works of art and antiquity at the museum.
The eight authentic replica costumes were researched by Ms Fiona Davern, a UCC archaeology graduate, and made by Ms Linda Wilson, a graduate in fashion from the Limerick School of Art and Design.
