Arsenal inflicted a harsh dose of reality on Nationwide Conference side Farnborough as the non-League side's impossible FA Cup dream lasted just 19 minutes at Highbury.

Having switched the tie from their own ground, the non-League side never recovered from early strikes by Sol Campbell and Francis Jeffers, followed by a red card for defender Christian Lee.

After Jeffers had netted a second, Rocky Baptiste managed to seize his moment of glory with a strike in front of his own fans, but Dennis Bergkamp and Lauren still rounded off a comprehensive win.

Wiltord immediately stepped up the pace and inspired Arsenal to a third goal, with Jeffers sweeping home van Bronckhorst's cross.

On came a streaker from the Farnborough end and he was soon followed into the Arsenal net by the ball, with Baptiste seizing his moment of glory with 20 minutes left.

Having shaken off the attentions of Pascal Cygan with ease, his first effort was saved by Taylor but the Farnborough striker still managed to net the rebound.

Bergkamp nevertheless restored Arsenal's three-goal advantage as van Bronckhorst again produced a perfect cross from the left flank.

Lauren also struck but Jeffers wasted two clear chances for his hat-trick and Annon produced another goal-line clearance, this time from Bergkamp.

Given their early red card, Farnborough had much to be proud of. But it was still Arsenal who came through the test of their professionalism with flying colours.
