Farmers' representatives have welcomed the Supreme Court decision to order a shipping company to resume live cattle ex ports. The court granted an interim injunction to live exporters prohibiting a ban by Pandoro Ltd on the carriage of livestock for fattening purposes until the matter is fully heard in the High Court. Mr Frank Allen, president of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association, said it was a judgment of "monumental importance. It lays the foundation stone for a legal basis to establish our right to export live cattle to mainland Europe." Mr Raymond O'Malley, chairman of the Irish Farmers Association national livestock committee, said it was the first step in addressing Pandoro's refusal to carry all livestock on its ships.
