The number of farm deaths has risen to 19 so far this year following the death late this week of a farmer, Mr Felix McGoldrick (82), Ardrum, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
He was helping neighbours harvest silage near his home on Wednesday when he was in collision with a tractor. He died later at Cavan Hospital.
Last week an elderly farmer died when bales of silage fell on him on his Co Mayo farm.
There were 15 deaths during 1997, four of which were children. So far this year five Irish children have lost their lives in farm accidents.

The latest accidents are being investigated by the Health and Safety Authority.
