Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a "tiger" kidnapping last night in which a female bank official's family were abducted.
A number of armed and masked men forced their way into a house the Johnsbridge estate in Lucan about 1.00am, taking a couple and their two children hostage.
The Bank of Ireland employee was forced to go to her place of work in Inchicore and take an undisclosed quantity of cash.
She left the bank at about noon and left her vehicle carrying the money at Liffey Gael’s GAA Club in Inchicore.
Her husband and children - a boy aged six years and a girl aged three - were tied up and held overnight. At about 6.00am, they were bundled into a blue Opel van with the registration number 07 D 69990 and driven to the back of a petrol station in Rathangan, Co Kildare.
The family's silver VW Passat, registration number 99 D 60718, was taken from their house in Lucan and has not yet been located.
