Aer Lingus has reported a year on year decrease of almost 16 per cent in passenger numbers for November.
The number of people carried by the airline fell from 776,000 in November 2009 to 653,000 last month.
Short haul passenger numbers fell 17.5 per cent to 581,000, while long haul numbers were unchanged at 72,000.
Aer Lingus’ load factor increased by 1.3 points to 72.3 per cent last month, with long haul load factor up 0.8 points to 71.9 per cent and short haul load factor up 1.6 points to 72.6 per cent.
Short haul capacity fell by 20.6 per cent.
Aer Lingus said it had significantly reduced long haul capacity at the end of last year and made a move with regard to short haul capacity earlier this year, in an attempt to remove loss making routes.
