A former financier, Mr George Finbarr Ross, who was extradited by the United States last week, was remanded in custody by Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Mr Ross (53), who once lived in Dublin, faces 41 charges of false accounting and deception in connection with his company, International Investments Ltd, which collapsed in 1984 owing investors £7 million.
He was remanded until June 11th when, a prosecution lawyer said, the Crown would apply to have him sent for trial.
