Extra bus and train services laid on for weekend

The main supermarkets are opening longer, some staying open for 24 hours.

Dunnes Stores will be opening six stores for 24 hours on Saturday.

They are Bishopstown Court, Cork; Cornelscourt and Tallaght in Dublin; Kilkenny; Newbridge, Co Kildare; and Parkway, Limerick.

On Sunday, the 24-hour branches will be Blanchardstown, Cornelscourt, Donaghmede and Kilnamanagh in Dublin; Douglas, Cork; and Terryland, Galway.

Other Dunnes branches will stay open later then usual.

Tesco has 12 of its main stores opening for 24 hours until Monday morning.

The smaller branches will remain open until 10 p.m. today and 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Superquinn will be open today from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For late-night travellers in Dublin, the extra DART services will operate again this evening on the hour from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. Northbound trains will leave from Pearse Street station serving all stations as far as Howth.

The 2 a.m. DART will operate as far as Malahide.

Southbound DARTs will operate from Connolly Station serving all stations with the exception of Tara Street and Grand Canal Dock.

There will be extra security on the trains.

In the city, normal bus services with operate today and tomorrow and Nitelink services will be continuing.

Tomorrow, extra bus services will be operating in Dublin starting at 8.30 a.m. to facilitate shoppers.

Normal Sunday services will operate tomorrow on Bus ╔ireann, with the exception of the 4.50 p.m. Milltown Malbay to Dublin bus and the 5.30 p.m. Waterford to Cork (via Lismore) bus, which will be cancelled.

Special timetables will be operating on Iarnr≤d ╔ireann throughout the holidays and details are available from all stations and offices.

Many of the main supermarket branches will be opening for 24 hours throughout the weekend.
