Business leaders have expressed concern about the effect traffic disruptions caused by the Tour de France will have on trade.

The director of Small Firms' Mr Turlough O'Sullivan, IBEC's director of industrial relations, said "in the short term, the Tour de France may have an adverse impact on the distribution and movement of trade".

Both, however, said that the tour would promote Ireland and Mr O'Sullivan added "we are delighted to welcome it".

Ireland will host three stages of the tour: a prologue on Saturday 11th and stage one on Sunday 12th, both in Dublin. Stage two on Monday 13th goes from Enniscorthy to Cork.
