A former officer of Waterford County Board of the GAA at the centre of a garda investigation into the alleged misappropriation of €142,000 from inter-county ticket sales was found dead in Co Wexford yesterday.
The body of the man in his 60s was discovered at around 12.30pm in a field at Stokestown some three miles from New Ross and was later removed to Waterford Regional Hospital at Ardkeen for a post-mortem examination.
Gardai confirmed the discovery of the man's body but said that they were not treating the death as suspicious and were not looking for anybody else in connection with the his death.
The news comes only days after it emerged that Waterford County Board of the GAA had made a complaint to gardai that some €142,000 from ticket sales had been misappropriated.
