A former teacher, aged 57, appeared in court in Co Sligo yesterday on 202 charges of indecent assault. The offences, which are alleged to have taken place in a primary school in the county, occurred over a nine-year period, 1968-77.
Four other former teachers at the same school have already appeared in court on indecent assault charges. Two of them were charged.
The fifth man, who appeared in Easkey District Court yesterday, is alleged to have committed the offences against eight different victims. Judge Oliver McGuinness remanded him on bail to appear at Sligo District Court on October 4th.
