A FORMER Fianna Fáil TD has been summonsed to appear before Cork District Court for the non-payment of a debt to a local community newspaper.

A judgment was made against former Cork North Central TD Noel O’Flynn last March for non- payment of just over €1,000 to Mick Young and John McGuinness of Glanmire Community News, the Community Centre, Riverstown, Co Cork.

Solicitor Micheal O’Dowd, representing Glanmire Community News, yesterday made a request to Judge Tim Lucey that they be allowed to post manually a summons for attendance of a debtor to Mr O’Flynn.

Cork District Court was told that an earlier attempt to deliver a registered letter to Mr O’Flynn had failed.

Mr O’Dowd told Judge Lucey that Kilnap, Mallow Road, Cork, is the registered company address for Mr O’Flynn.

Judge Lucey granted the application to serve the summons by ordinary mail.

Mr O’Flynn represented Cork North Central as a TD for 14 years. In January last year Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin asked Mr O’Flynn not to run to safeguard the seat of Billy Kelleher. Mr Flynn agreed to this request and Mr Kelleher was re-elected.
