A court in Britain has found a former US marine found guilty of the murder of a policeman last year.
David Bieber (38) a bouncer who is also wanted in the United States for a separate murder plot, was also convicted of the attempted murders of two colleagues of Pc Ian Broadhurst (34).
The prosecution alleged Bieber was the man who shot dead Pc Broadhurst and injured his two colleagues.
He denied murdering Pc Broadhurst and two counts of attempting to murder Pc Roper and Pc Banks, whose radio was hit by a bullet on December 26th, 2003.
But the jury of six men and six women delivered unanimous verdicts on all of the charges.
The defendant claimed the gunman was a friend - dubbed Mr X by the prosecution - and he was using a telephone kiosk close to the scene of the shootings in Dib Lane, Leeds.
He refused to name the man, claiming he was a loyal friend and he could not "grass" on him or "stab him in the back". Bieber said he also feared reprisals against his family if he named the man in court.
Bieber will be sentenced later today.
