Euro zone prices grew by 2.1 per cent in September, though prices were unchanged stable compared with August, figures released today by the European Union's statistics service Eurostat showed.
The 12-month figure was lower than an earlier Eurostat forecast of 2.2 per cent, but nonetheless higher than the European Central Bank's inflation ceiling of two per cent in the medium term.
For the full 15-member EU, inflation in September was unchanged from August, but showed an increase of 1.9 per cent compared with the figure for September 2001, Eurostat said.
