The euro was stable today ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of the European Central Bank in Dublin, with few dealers expecting any move in rates.

The single European currency was changing hands for $0.8533 and for 104.82 yen from 104.91 this morning.

Signs of increasing inflation in the euro-zone are expected to deter the ECB from cutting interest rates at its fortnightly meeting.

"The markets are simply not watching any of the data at the moment but are waiting for the next batch of inflation numbers," said Royal Bank of Scotland economist Mr Neil Parker.
