Estonians held on drugs charges

Two Estonian nationals were last night remanded in custody after being charged in connection with the seizure of £2.5 million worth of cannabis resin in Cork at the weekend.

Mr Toomas Puusepp (24) and Mr Andres Sumil (40), from Tallinn, Estonia, were each charged at a special sitting of Midleton District Court with four drug offences at Ringaskiddy ferry port on July 29th.

Gardai objected to bail saying they feared they would abscond because they had no ties with Ireland and because of the seriousness of the charges they are facing. Judge Uinsinn Mac Gruairc remanded both men in custody to appear again at Midleton on August 7th.
