Lazio's Swedish coach Sven Goran Eriksson has resigned from his position with the Italian champions, it was confirmed on the country's stock exchange today.
Eriksson steps down as Lazio boss

Eriksson's decision, reported by Italian news agency ANSA, clears the way for him to become coach to the England national team six months ahead of his scheduled start date in July.
Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti was holding talks today at the Formello training base with club vice-president Dino Zoff who is expected to take the reins from Eriksson.
It comes just 24 hours after the Scandinavian had held talks with Cragnotti to discuss the club's disappointing form although the Lazio president had said after that meeting that as far as the club was concerned Eriksson would see out his contract.
Zoff, a member of Italy's 1982 World Cup winning side and who resigned as coach to the Italian national side after losing in the final of Euro 2000, had indicated Monday he would take the post if offered.
