Enterprise centre destroyed by fire in Dublin

An enterprise centre which employs hundreds of people was destroyed by a fire in Dublin's north inner city this morning.

An enterprise centre which employs hundreds of people was destroyed by a fire in Dublin's north inner city this morning.

Dublin Fire Brigade has brought the fire under control and remained at the scene until 3 p.m. The fire started at 7 a.m. in a bakery in the Liffey Trust centre at Castleforbes Road, at the junction with Upper Sherrif Street.

High winds hampered efforts to bring the fire under control.At the height of the blaze, 13 fire engines were pumping in water from the River Liffey.

A Garda spokeswoman said the Fire Bridade was ensuring the structure was safe before gardaí move in to investigate the cause of the blaze. Fire units remain at the scene.
