England's cricketers have asked for their World Cup match in Zimbabwe to be moved to South Africa.
The England players are concerned over security issues and have asked for the game against Zimbabwe, scheduled for Harare on February 13th, to be played out of the country.
Richard Bevan, managing director of the Professional Cricketers' Association, said: "As concerns with the England team over the current political situation in Zimbabwe grow, the players today have requested an urgent review of their scheduled match against Zimbabwe.
"Without doubt the issues have been weighing heavily on the players minds, taking into account moral, political and contractual aspects."
"It was made clear that the situation in Zimbabwe is highly volatile," he said.
Bevan highlighted concerns over safety. He pointed to the recent fire bombing of a political party's office, a statement from the Mayor of Harare that he could not guarantee security and reports from Zimbabwe police that they had found an arms cache allegedly for the use of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe's opponents against England cricketers.
