ELEVEN MEN charged in connection with a riot involving more than 200 people a number of weeks ago at Dalton Park in Mullingar have had their bail extended.

At Tullamore District Court, Insp Pat Murray said the men had adhered to the bail conditions imposed two weeks ago by Judge Gerard Haughton.

Patrick McDonagh (70), Dalton Park, Mullingar; David McDonagh (26) and Michael McDonagh (36), both Reask Court, Navan; Michael McDonagh (24), Northern Close, Belcamp Lane, Coolock; John Nevin (25), James Nevin (23) and Christy (Ditsy) Nevin (53), St Michael's Park, Mullingar; and John McDonagh (33), Dalton Park, all face charges under the Public Order Act.

John Nevin (21), Dalton Park is also charged under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act with having a two-foot sword, while David Nevin (30), St Michael's Park, and Hugh Nevin (21), Grange Crescent, Mullingar, each also face a charge of assault.

The men, who range in age from 21 to 70, are prohibited from entering Dalton Park and from engaging in direct communication with opposing parties except through an agreed mediator.

They are also bound to stay away from the residences of the opposing parties and not to gather in public places in groups of more than three. They are obliged to continue to sign on twice weekly at named Garda stations.

Judge Haughton remanded them on continuing bail to appear at Mullingar District Court on September 11th.
