An elderly Cork man was injured this morning in a suspected gas explosion at his home.
The man was treated for shock and minor burns to the head and face. He is described as being in a stable conditionin Cork University Hospital.
The house, in the Sallybrook area of Glanmire in Cork city, was destroyed. It is understood the blast was caused by a gas cooker.
The roof of the house was torn off, the ground floorwindows were shattered and the back wall of the house was badly damaged. The house was also gutted by fire.
