The Word Garden, a festival celebrating the verbal arts, is running at the Arc cultural centre for children in Temple Bar, Dublin. The 18-day festival kicked off recently with the Word Walk. As well as plays, performances and readings, the four floors of the the Ark have been transformed into a Word Garden with poetry trees - they include Crann with poems as Gaeilge; the Faraway Tree, which grows poems from faraway countries; the Heaney Tree with poems by the Nobel Laureate himself; the Bonsai Tree with haikus and the Animal Tree.
